Giving

Community support makes our work possible!

Donations to the Guardians of the City support educational programs, exhibitions, and collection care. Donations are 100% tax deductible.

Artifact donations for the collection

The Museum can only accept artifact donations that support our Mission Statement; donated artifacts must be related to the history of San Francisco’s Fire, Police, Sheriff or Emergency Medical Service Departments.  If your donation does not pertain to our Mission Statement, GOTC will suggest a more appropriate home.

Can I mail or drop off a donation to the GOTC Museum?

GOTC cannot accept unsolicited donations through the mail or in person. Item(s) mailed or dropped off at the Museum will not be considered for inclusion in GOTC’s collection.

Why do I have to fill out paperwork for my donation?

All donations MUST have signed Deed of Gift paperwork in order become part of the Museum’s collection. The donor may choose to remain anonymous, but we still must have signed paperwork for the legal transfer of ownership. Your completed Deed of Gift is proof of your donation and can also be used for tax purposes.

Contact us

If you are interested in a potential artifact donation, please contact us and we would be glad to discuss it with you and advise on how to proceed.
